<title>Mideast peace requires religious freedom, pope tells Armenian leader</title>
			<link>http://www.pontificalorientalinstitute.com/news/catholic-world/pope-meets-aram-i.html</link>
			<description>Your Holiness,
With heartfelt affection in the Lord I greet you and the distinguished members of your delegation on the occasion of your visit to the Church of Rome. Our meeting today stands in continuity with the visit which you made to my beloved predecessor Pope John Paul ii in January 1997, and with the many other contacts and mutual visits which, by God's grace, have led in recent years to closer relations between the Catholic Church and the Armenian Apostolic Church.

			<link>http://www.pontificalorientalinstitute.com/news/catholic-world/social-week-of-france-the-inter-religius-declaration.html</link>
<description>(Daniele Rocchi, SIR's correspondent in Lyons)
We, as the representatives of the monotheistic religions, feel responsible for speaking together . This is the beginning of the inter-religious declaration, one of the fruits of the Social Week of France, which was focussed on the subject: Religions, a hope or a threat for our societies? and ended in Lyons yesterday. The document, signed by Christians, Jews and Muslims, states: The principle of separating the political and the religious is for us a premise and a condition for any serene religious and political experience. But this premise is not mere neutrality, it must be supported by a respectful attitude, by the wish to get to know and recognise the other, even if we do not share the same faith and the same beliefs . The task that is so urgent now, it goes on, is to multiply dialogue in any place between believers as well as dialogue with our non-believing brothers . In this respect, without boasting and without qualms , we invite you to draw from the declaration the meaning that many of our contemporaries are looking for, when confronted by multiple causes for...</description>

			<link>http://www.pontificalorientalinstitute.com/news/catholic-world/catholic-muslim-forum-overcome-prejudices-of-the-past.html</link>
<description>This morning in the Vatican, Benedict XVI received participants in the First Seminar of the Catholic-Muslim Forum. The event has been organised by the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue and by the 138 Muslim representatives who, on 13 October 2007, sent an open letter to the Pope and to other heads of Christian Churches and ecclesial Communities.

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to receive you this morning and I greet all of you most cordially. I thank especially Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran as well as Shaykh Mustafa Ceri&amp;#263; and Mr Seyyed Hossein Nasr for their words. Our meeting takes place at the conclusion of the important Seminar organized by the Catholic-Muslim Forum established between the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and representatives of the 138 Muslim leaders who signed the Open Letter to Christian leaders of 13 October 2007.
